Please understand that the comments below are those of Ford & McIntyre Men’s Wear. They are based on personal experiences as well as experiences from selling SAXX for over 5 years now.
We find the waist size recommendations provided by SAXX to be true to size. The size is mostly about the band of the underwear. If you purchase a pair in a size too small the band will feel too tight and may leave a red mark on your body at the end of the day.
Please note that styles with nylon, that are not lightweight, will fit very snug almost like a second skin feeling and that feeling will stay all day. Not unusual to go up a size.
BOTTOM LINE: keep in mind a guy will wear underwear slightly loose but never too tight. For first time buyers, when unsure of size, lean towards going up to start with. You can adjust for your next purchase.
SAXX has a few fits: SLIM (formerly called Modern), RELAXED and LOOSE.
The fit does not change the size you want to purchase. The size chart stays the same.
The most popular fit is the SLIM fit. It is form fitting and slimming through the butt and thighs. No butt and skinny legs.... you want this fit.
The RELAXED fit is for a guy who wants the underwear to feel slightly looser in the hips and thigh area. Usually a guy with a hockey butt and thighs would want the RELAXED fit.
SAXX also makes a LOOSE fit. It is for the guy who wants a BOXER not a BOXER BREIF. It is very loose and airy with ample room in the leg. It is a modern take on the traditional boxer with, of course, the Ball Park Pouch.
Please note that styles with nylon, that are not lightweight, and have a higher amount of elastane, will fit very snug almost like a second skin feeling and that feeling will stay all day. Not unusual to go up a size in these.
FLY or NO FLY
Do you need a fly? Some guys it does not matter if there is a fly or not so his style and fabric options are endless however if you need a fly then be very careful in your purchases.
Some styles and fits have flies, some don’t. Read the details on each piece.
BOTTOM LINE: a guy who needs a fly will not wear a pair of underwear without a fly
SAXX underwear has numerous fabrics. It is important to read the details about each piece so you are aware of the type of fabric.
The most popular fabric is the Viscose. You will find that in the styles VIBE and ULTRA
If you are a cotton guy then you want UNDERCOVER
If you want something real silky soft then you want the modal fabric in PLATINUM style.
If you like polyester then you want VOLT or QUEST.
QUEST is the best underwear for quick drying. Great travel piece.
If you are working out then you may like something with a high compression nylon fabric in KINETIC.
Remember when searching for the fabric you want pay attention that it also matches the fit as well as whether it has a fly or not.
Hope we have made it easier ....... HAPPY SHOPPING!!
